COP26 accommodation platform ready for hosts sign-up

Do you live in Central Belt Scotland? The COP26 Coalition need as many of you as possible to sign up to their shiny, new online homesharing accommodation platform: climate.humanhotel.org

They’re asking everyone that can to list their spare room or sofa during November, to create a lovely pool of awesome hosts that people from across the UK and the wider world can use when they come to Glasgow for COP26 in November.

A little like Couchsurfing, but specifically for COP26, those in Glasgow and the central belt can list their sofa or spare room, and then be matched with a guest who needs a place to stay. It’s an affordable, sustainable and inspiring way to house thousands of activists while connecting them to communities here in Scotland (and potentially the most Covid friendly accommodation plan with just a couple of households mixing).

To become a host, visit humanhotel.com/cop26/ to sign up and list your space.

You’ll need about 15 minutes, some nice photos of your spare room, your bank details (see below for why) and your boundless enthusiasm.

Giving feedback

And, because the platform hasn’t officially launched yet (some bits are still under construction), the Coalition are also collecting feedback on how to make it even better. If you’d like to give them your feedback while signing up to become a host, please fill out this survey.

Support and guide to signing-up

Information, including instructions, can be found here.

For those who’d like more support in signing up to become a host, they are also running a series of workshops every Thursday afternoon at 12.30-1.30pm for four weeks, starting on the 15th April.

For further details on the meetings, please contact xrglasgow@gmail.com.

Your bank details

Your bank details are for payment to you as a host, and for verification purposes. You detaisl also include your International Bank Account Number (IBAN). Don’t worry, this sounds scary but it’s actually not; it’s a number based on your sort code and account number.

You can find out what your IBAN number using this IBAN calculator. IBAN’s are needed for international bank transfers – handy if you’re hosting an international guest!
