Stop Rosebank: join the day of action
August 24, 2025
On Saturday 6th September, Stop Rosebank are coordinating a UK-wide day of action. Scottish protests are taking place in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Shetland.
Rosebank is the biggest undeveloped oil and gas field in the North Sea. Burning Rosebank’s oil and gas would create more CO2 than the combined emissions of all 28 low-income countries in the world, including Uganda and Ethiopia.
Why now?
Equinor is expected to resubmit its application to develop Rosebank any day now. This submission will trigger a 30-day public consultation on Equinor’s application. The decision to approve or reject the field will go back to the UK government.
In just a matter of months, we could see the UK government make the decision to reject Rosebank, or we could see them double down on fossil fuels, at everyone’s expense.
